The very thought of trying small groups in the middle school classroom can make most of us want to run for the hills! We know that small groups will offer us opportunities to provide individualized support and guidance to students, but the barriers to this practice can seem overwhelming. Student behavior, finding resources, and starting new classroom routines can paralyze us.
