Utilizing technology resources to accelerate student learning presented by Dr. Sonny Magana- PD 1
Monday February 5, 2024 3:30pm - 5:00pm PST
Participants will gain the most by participating in all three sessions, however, participation in all three is not required.  Teachers will be compensated for their participation at the non-instructional rate through the Ed Services Department.

The learning intentions are:
  1. Participants will learn that the T3 Framework Instructional Strategies and Meta Learning Habits align with and support the Visible Learning evidence base and the EUSD Framework for the Future.
  1. Participants will learn how to implement the foundational T3 Strategy—Clarity—and the first Meta Learning Habit—Commitment to Personal Mastery Goals—to support developing the foundational Framework for the Future element: Empowered Learners.
  1. Participants will learn with one another to plan for implementing and evaluating the impact of these strategies using the Magana Effect Size Generator.
The overall intention of this work is to build Collective System Efficacy by creating a common language of innovative teaching and learning in Escondido Union School District. Collective System Efficacy arises when every teacher, learning leader, and student in a school system believes that they can and will improve learning and academic achievement.

This intention will be met by engaging in the three Visible Learning Mandates: 1. Know the research, 2. Focus on the learning, and 3. Know thy impact. Participants will learn the “why” and the “what” of the T3 Framework and Meta Learning teaching and learning strategies, how to implement them with fidelity, and how to use the Magana Effect Size Generator to determine the effect size regarding their teaching practices. This will help teachers accurately determine the impact of these practices on student learning and wellbeing.

FLIPP Executive Functioning PD
Thursday September 26, 2024 2:00pm - 3:00pm PDT
For many learners in today’s classrooms, a lack of appropriate executive function (EF) skills—which includes the ability to switch between topics and activities, initiate action, cope with change, make choices, plan and organize, manage time, inhibit impulses, regulate emotions, and solve problems—make reaching high expectations difficult.  Often these students are seen as unmotivated or behaviorally challenged.
Although it may seem as though a student could meet expectations if they wanted to, but doesn’t do so because they simply won’t, perhaps the reality is that they lack the skills to do what is expected and, therefore, cannot meet the expectations without support.  In these sessions, participants will gain an understanding of how deficits in executive function affect a student’s learning and behavior and discover how to incorporate numerous evidence-based strategies into school settings that build competent EF skills and provide a foundation for learning and thriving in all environments.

TK Collaboration PD
Thursday May 22, 2025 1:30pm - 2:00pm PDT
All Gen Ed and Special Ed TK teachers are invited to participate in a half hour of professional development and collaboration on cross-articulation Thursdays.  The focus is on EUSD-specific collaboration and PD (e.g. Eureka Math2, roll-out of new Preschool/TK standards, etc.).

The half hour session is followed by the FLIPP Executive Functioning PD which has been coordinated by ISS. Both of these sessions will be held via zoom. The same zoom link will be used for both sessions.

FLIPP Executive Functioning PD
Thursday May 22, 2025 2:00pm - 3:00pm PDT
